The Cominfosec Advantage
Learn more about our next generation turnstiles and their unique benefits
Cominfo began as an IT company and over the years has shifted to become a security company selling pedestrian entrance control and other security solutions. However, we retained our pedigree in IT as we designed our advanced security products. Our expertise in IT and software programing knowledge along with our in-house ability to develop and design cutting edge electro-mechanical technology within a corporate culture focused on reliability and quality is the secret to our success, and has enabled us to develop a next-generation turnstile platform that offers several unique advantages over anything else on the market.
Maximizing return on investment is crucial when investing in security turnstiles. Major challenges include frequency of repairs, replacement cost of components, and product downtime, which inconveniences users and diverts security resources. Our next-generation platform is designed to mitigate these issues through several key improvements.
Low Cost of Ownership
Cominfo began as an IT firm, and our technological background informed the design of our security products. As our focus shifted to the security sector, the vision was to create a next-generation turnstile platform, drawing on our unique IT expertise. To achieve this, the decision was made to design all of our electronics and components in-house, with enhanced functionality and performance, by enabling bi-directional communication with the main processor board. Bi-directional communication allows daughter boards and components to both receive and transmit data, which is crucial for diagnosing potential issues and collecting data to improve algorithms. This capability also led to the development of a systems monitoring network, a tool designed to help users quickly resolve problems and minimize downtime.
The systems monitoring network allows users to run diagnostic tests and access real-time turnstile data. In the event of an issue, the intuitive diagnostic tool quickly identifies the problem and necessary corrective actions. All components are designed for plug-and-play functionality, enabling fast repairs. With a spare parts kit and trained local staff, units can be restored to operation quickly, reducing the need to wait for a service technician. If local support is unable to resolve the issue, remote assistance is available worldwide via internet connection, thanks to the turnstile's internal health monitoring capabilities and data-collecting components.
Security and Technology Features
Product performance, reliability, and durability are also major factors to consider when selecting security products. These elements were emphasized in the design process of our security products and the technology that is utilized within our platform, with many of our mechanical components and parts engineered and manufactured in house. The product line includes a variety of solutions, ranging from compact models to high-security turnstiles with more robust drive systems, taller panels, and hard-locking capabilities, as well as specialized options such as the Bar One turnstile.
Many of our high-security turnstiles feature the patented MDD Motor, which offers several unique advantages. Designed for maximum durability, the drive system eliminates the need for a gearbox, a common point of failure, because the motor generates high torque unassisted. This makes the motor maintenance-free. The absence of a gearbox also makes the drive system virtually silent. Additionally, the motor is capable of driving up to 7-foot-tall glass panels and wider panels, as well as driving them at very fast speeds, both market-leading features. When combined with a locking brake, it enables hard-locking panels in the entry direction, preventing the turnstiles from being forced open or pushed through.
Data collected from millions of passages has enabled continuous refinement of IR beam technology and algorithms, reducing false alarms while enhancing tailgating and crossover detection capabilities. The turnstiles are programmed to differentiate between objects such as rolling bags, carts, or umbrellas and individuals attempting to tailgate, ensuring minimal false alarms. Our sound board also enables two audio channels, a loud channel for alarm events and a quieter one for user tones. Loud user tones and excessive false alarms can diminish the importance of actual security events and cause confusion or frustration for users.
Leveraging the durability of our products and advanced technology, Cominfo has developed a unique fully outdoor rated optical turnstiles for the market. These turnstiles are IP-rated and do not require a covered location or sheltered enclosure. Designed to function in various weather conditions, they are programmed to operate effectively in adverse environments including direct rain and high moisture conditions. In suitable temperate climates, many buildings and campuses can secure entry points outside of lobbies extending the security perimeter, providing an increased security margin. Specialized turnstiles are also available for bicycle use.
Customization and Options
Cominfo aims to provide products that are not only extremely reliable but also aesthetically pleasing, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into any operating environments. Our product lines are highly customizable, with a variety of options and finishes available to complement or match the existing architecture or corporate branding of the application. Peripherals such as elevator lift calls, biometric readers, badge collectors, as well as third party devices can be seamlessly integrated into the products, which are also designed to be scalable for future integration.
Many of our customizable features serve practical purposes while enhancing aesthetic appeal. Various illumination options provide a premium appearance to the base model and also serve important functions, such as offering visual cues to security personnel and users (e.g., green indicates 'Go'; flashing lights signify an alarm event). Additionally, our advanced sound board allows users to customize tones and alarms used by the turnstiles. This capability enables the programming of distinct alarm tones for different events or the provision of voice-synthesized commands, such as 'Invalid badge, please see the reception desk.
Cominfo is well-equipped to handle custom projects at competitive and affordable prices. Whether the application requires functional modifications, such as matching an existing footprint or custom-sized barriers, or aesthetic enhancements like bespoke turnstile cabinet designs, the company is committed to collaborating with customers to provide solutions beyond the standard product offerings. We can do what many other turnstile manufactures wouldn’t even consider.
